What do you think of this laptop?

Sony FX215

I'm thinking of buying this for school next year... How are Sony Laptops? The only thing I'd probably change is the hard drive, is it easily accessible? Keep in mind I'm in Canada, and Dell doesn't have as good deals for us canadians. I can get the sony for 2600$ (=1750$ US), or the FX210 model witha 14.1" TFT for 2400$ (=1600$ US).

It's an alright notebook. It's intensely thick at 2.2" (a Compaq M700 with integrated DVD-Rom is 1.1" thick), and pretty heavy though, so that's something you should be aware of. The HD is really easy to replace, so don't worry about that (I had an F series Vaio notebook before). The battery life isn't too good, especially for the size. The Rage Mobility M1 that that notebook uses is FAR better than the Neomagic video chips they used to put in em.

yeah, I saw how thick it was. I'm now leaning towards the FX210, which is the exact same thing except it has a 14.1" TFT which makes it 1.9" thick and a little lighter. The difference between 14 and 15 inch shouldn't be too bad, and they're both 1024x768 anyways.
