Here's roughly something my friends and I have drawn up so far..

June 30th - July 1st Manchester
July 2nd - July 7th London
July 8th - July 10th Paris
July 10th - July 13th San Sebastian
July 13th - July 15th Pamplona
July 16th - July 19st Madrid
July 20nd - July 23rd Barcelona
July 23rd - July 24th Nice
July 24th - July 24th Monaco
July 24th - July 27th Florence
July 27st - July 30th Rome
August 1st - August 3rd Munich
August 3rd - August 5th Berlin

Spain is the most flexible area of all..it'll depend on whether or not we want to relax a bit and whatnot, or maybe even throw a trip to Portugal in there.

Everybody's schedule will be different...i.e., I would personally spend less time in Spain and more in France, but that's just me.

Regardless...lucky SOB :p

Ack, you're missing the World Cup...intentionally? If you went to Munich & Berlin first you'd be there right in time for the semifinals.

I recommend you add one more day to Paris. There are plenty of places to walk around and visit!

I'd knock off Nice and tack that time onto Rome. Nice and Monaco are both resort towns on the Med - no real need to do both. one of the days in San Sebastian might be better spent in a larger city.

Huh? Nice is a regular big city and the best city France has to offer anyway...no at all a resort town...definitely go there and get some good local food and drinks :)
Monaco is exactly ok for a one-day visit...go for the old town and visit the casino...envy the guys with the Ferraris and hot chicks :p Unless you are there for Formula One (I love that) one day is fair enough...

Rome at that time of the year is a pain...hot as hell ;) I recommend an extensive Vatikan visit, as the dome and museum are comfy cool...
3 days of Rome can be enough, but it is a tough programme and no time to hit the beach in Ostia...

WAY too much in WAY too short a time. You'll see a lot, but you don't experience much. Some of my better memories of Europe were just casually sitting in a cafe for a few hours reading a book, watching/talking with the people, etc. You're going to be running around at full speed the entire time.

Also, you're hitting all the big cities which is great, but you're missing the heart of most of these countries.

Just a consideration: If you pushed it out a month you could hit Oktoberfest in Munich. It's a great time.

All IMO of course.

i spent 3 days in Nice and felt that it was 2 days too long. just offering my opinion.

i agree with what Descartes said - if you can make your way out to small towns, castles, wineries, etc, it's definitely worth the effort.

Agreed. Try to narrow your cities/areas down to 3 or 4. Maybe try just a France/Spain/Portugal trip...or a Germany/Italy trip...you get the idea.

Yeah..when I first planned the trip I thought 4-5 weeks was going to be too long/expensive, but now that I'm looking further into it it's a really short period of time..

I think Florence doesn't require 3 days. 2 is enough, possibly even if you side trip to Pisa from there.

Well, the upside is that you'll at least get an idea of what most readily appeals to you, and with that in mind you can plan to go back and spend time in only that location. I absolutely love Amsterdam and all the little towns along the Rhine in Germany, the towns in/around Alsace in France, and all of Austria; however, I would be fine if I never went back to London (although Bath, England was GREAT fun!).

It all depends on what you like as well. If you're a partier the islands of Greece/Spain probably appeal to you a little more, but for me it's about the simpler things. My preference lends itself more to going to a chamber music hall than a club, and Austria is a great place for such things.

You'll have a great time either way. Enjoy!

A little Austrian (Salzburg) eye candy for you.
