What do you think of this desktop build?

Hi, I'm trying to put together a parts list for my friend. His budget is about $500, and the main goal is to play League of Legends at 1920x1080 resolution. I'd like to get your opinion on this build.

GIGABYTE M68MT Thermaltake V2 Barebones Kit - GIGABYTE M68MT Mobo, AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU, Patriot 8GB DDR3 RAM Kit, OCZ 60GB SSD, Lite-On 24x DVDRW, Thermaltake V2 Mid Tower, 450W Power Supply
$299 after rebate

Seagate ST500DM002 Barracuda 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - 500GB, SATA-6G, 7200, 16MB
$70 after coupon

OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply
$50

GIGABYTE GV-N550OC-1GI GeForce GTX 550 Ti Video Card - 1GB, GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0 (x16), Mini HDMI, Dual DVI, DirectX 11, SLI Ready, Overclocked
$85 after rebate

Total: $505 after rebates, $615 before rebates

I know the video card is more than necessary for LoL at 1080p, but $85 for a 550Ti seems like good bang for buck. Anyway, I did a quick calculation for the PSU, and it seems like the one included in the barebones kit won't be enough, so I've chosen a heftier power supply.

What's your opinion of this build?

MOD EDIT: Moved to General Hardware where it belongs. - Zap

Wrong forum. This is for pre-built machines. YOu post belongs in General Hardware.

AFAIK League of Legends is only single threaded, so there is no benefit for going with a hex core. That card should run it great - League of Legends is not very graphics intensive. In fact, I used Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics at 1680x1050 to play League of Legends a whole day and it was very acceptable at medium settings. If you aren't going to be playing anything else, then you can probably go even cheaper on the graphics. Also, being that it is 32-bit software, it will never use more than 2GB RAM, so 4GB system memory should be enough to run it, Windows and Skype/Ventrilo/Teamspeak.

Here's an alternate build.
AMD Athlon II X2 250 $62 with free shipping (or quad core for $28 more)
Foxconn A76ML-K 3.0 AM3 760G Micro ATX Motherboard $45 with free shipping
Sapphire Radeon 6570 $50 with free shipping before $10 rebate (480 Stream Processing Units)
Kingston Value 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 $20 with free shipping
random cheap case $40 + $5 shipping
random cheap DVD writer $16 with free shipping
Corsair CX500 power supply $47 with free shipping before $20 rebate
Kingston V200 64GB SSD $100 with free shipping, before $40 rebate (64GB should be plenty for Windows, LoL and whatever else you need for LoL like Skype)

$385 before rebates, including shipping
$315 after rebates

Your build would:
- Have a faster CPU with more cores (but not needed for LoL)
- Have a faster GPU (but not needed for LoL)
- Have more RAM (but not needed for LoL)
- Have more drive storage space (but not needed for LoL)

My build would:
- Be much cheaper both before and after rebates, let alone shipping.
- Less money tied up in rebates.
- Be physically smaller, draw less electricity and create less heat.
- Have similar performance in LoL.

Not included in either build is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Newegg has it for $80.

BTW a lot of this pricing is very time and stock sensitive. For instance your GTX 550 Ti is a great deal for that card, but is no longer available at that price. Also, some of the prices I listed may be Cyber Monday deals, meaning pricing good for today only.
