I am putting together a new computer and am looking for a good but inexpensive case. I have come upon this case from directron.com, but do not know much about it from other people. Any suggestions on if this case is any good?

Abit KG7
Athlon XP 1700+
512MB DDR PC 2100 Crucial
Gainward Geforce2 Ti 450

real men use links... ;)

Personally, I don't really like those hydraulic cases. Yeah it looks cool at first, but from what I've heard they're not very well made, and the air flow is pretty bad...

I'd go for an Antec SX1030/Directron D30.

Yeah.. not really into it either. Get an antec or an enlight.. or aopen. Cases (contrary to popular belief) are important parts of any computer system. I started out with a sh!tty case when I built my first computer, but I ended up buying the antec sx1030b after a while, and it really does make a difference.

the first model of the black hydraulic cases are nice...though the only thing i dont' like about htem is lack of thumb screws (whcih u can buy yourself anyway), lack of usb/multimedia ports in the front, and a 60mm exhaust fan spot in the rear (shoudl be at least 80mm)

it does like nice though...

the one u linked to is their latest and uglier version, but at least it has usb ports...also, white is simply disgusting...also, i cannot stand side intake fans - they make the case look ugly and add noise and dust...while doing generally little airflow/temp-wise.

directron has a lot of sweet inexpensive cases..keep looking...otherwise, that cause u pointed out isn't bad (does have a nice removable mobo tray (back bracket part attached so u don't have to remove slot cards)

The front of that case as no air vents so bad design,if you look at the Antec cases like SX830/SX1030 series etc you will see the air vents are designed well, they are a good choice and favourite among members here.Btw CityRoamer welcome to AT(Anandtech).

if u're gonna spend a fortune on an aluminum case, u might as well go coolermaster...lian li licks my arse in comparison
they look like metal pieces of junk w/ too many holes in them in fact...

go coolermaster if u're horny.

I don't know exactly what case it is, but it *does* look like a Lian-Li. I saw this pic at LanParty.com & thought it looked cool. I guess, if you're hauling your case around to LAN parties, the lighter aluminum cases are better.

I read a review/article that said the CoolMasters weren't worth the money.

What makes you say they are better than the Lian-Li's? In other words, what features do they offer that that Lian-Li's don't, and how do the prices compare?

well, if you're looking for cheap and good, check out an Addtronics 6890a or other addtronics models. i read a review of the 6890a and fell in love. but they can be pretty bulky if you're plannin on lan partying.

and in response to the lian-li flame(?), i love how lian-li makes that quick disconnect for all the case led and button leads. kinda odd how they use a different thumbscrew, tho. i need to look at some coolermasters, tho

i have a Fong Kai 320B that i ordered from directron....it got really good reviews from anandtech....i'm very pleased with it....take a look at it.......i've also used one of the hydraulic ones.....they're pretty nice contrary to wat some of these ppl r saying.....my FK320B ran me $100 shipped.....not bad in my opinion.....lian li and coolermaster r just too damn expensive for my tastes.....cases r VERY important to a well running system, but i don't think they should be the most expensive part!!....also, the FK320B shipped w/a 300W Sparkle power supply which has plenty of juice as well as power connectors.....take a look at it

Ok everyone. I am about to buy the Enlight 7237 ATX Mid Tower. Is this a better choice than that Directron Case I had directed attention to at the beginning of the post?

Probably, but I'm not too crazy about the 7237. You have to take off the front bezel to open the case...

A better choice would be the Antec SX830.
