My computer died on me, so I'm fixing up my computer.

How's this build.

I know the video card is old, but I don't want to pay for another card until I get a quad-core processor. But in today's standards, how's this computer?

Why do you need a quad core processor? Are you planning to OC? Whats the computer used for? The mobo seems like a budget choice, so i guess youre not OCing. Maybe you should consider buying AMD, because the price/performance ratio is best a whole lot lower with AMD than Intel.

For example the A64 X2 4400+

Generally generic PSUs on cases arent very high quality, but should do fine for limited amounts of time or under low load.

The computer is used for basic home stuff (internet, word docs, etc.) and for gaming.

I just play the games. That is, I don't really care for all the visuals. I was playing Fear, Doom, Farcry, HL2 on this video card and P4 system, so this would be a step up for me.

I'm not OC'ing, but figuring out if I should just get a Dell.

As far as the quad-core.... I don't need a quad-core, but will get one when they become the norm.

Building your own takes a lot more time than just getting a DELL. And troubleshooting can be a pain in the ass too, because you cant just bring it to them. But i like it that way, so i build my own rigs.

Besides you didnt mention your previous setup.

Yeah, that whole build is terrible. Do research and start over.
