what do you think of this acne medicine?

I'd recommend just biting the bullet and going to a dermatologist. The perscription medications you'll get from them are much better than any gimmick products.

Then again what do I know. It may work for you, but you'll have much better chances getting a coctail of accutane (or tetracycline) and retinA (or differin gel) from a professional.

Acutane works amazingly well, but the side effects are a bitch and a half

I'm using tetracycline antibiotics with retinA cream and my face is always incredibly dry (and lately it's been peeling a lot).

Sometimes I wonder what's worse. The acne (which doesn't come very often at all anymore) or the peeling skin (which sometimes looks like I was sunburned). *sigh*

knightbreed: how long have you been on it? it was like that for me for 3.5 months or so, but i just put a non-greasy moisturizer on(like aquetain) and it helped immensly. after your body adjusts to it, the acne starts to go away, and the dry skin leaves too. i went through about 30 sticks of Chapstick in 6 months, lol

Accutane is SUCK!!

I went through one treatment....went through all the bloodwork....paid a buttload....

It cut my acne down by over half but I would have had to have gone through the treatment again. The side effects sucked big time. I was so achy that I sat out of P.E. for half the year....

toph99, I was on amoxil and differin gel for a bit over a year and the peeling wasn't ever this bad.

I've been on tetracycline and retinA since school started this year (late august) and it's still pretty bad. Like I said, some days it looks like my face is peeling from a bad sunburn. Every day before school I put moisturizer on my face. It does help a bit, but once that stuff dries up, my face starts peeling again. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if I get used to it or not.

One of my cousins is a fresh out of med school doctor and I'll always remember when he said something to the effect of, "over the counter drugs are more or less worthless." Go to a dermatologist, they can get you the good stuff.

Get on Accutane, it works for 99% of people perfectly. The only side effect I had when I was on it was dry skin.

what kind of moisturizer are you using? i used Curel and this other heavy stuff, it soaked in and stayed in. just give it time, it's worth it :)

Im 17 and just finished accutane about 5 months ago. It worked great for me. My acne wasnt all that bad, but was really annoying for me. Seemed to lower my self esteem. The accutane cleared it up and the only side effects I had were chapped lips and dried skin. Many of my friends have used it as well and no one I know has had any major problems with it.

Snut Everybody is Different and you need to be "Checked" to see what is best for you.
EN You could probably get everything in that Kit at your local grocery store. Save your self some bucks and forget them. Murad that is

Retin-A works great. I used it when it came out like 15 years ago. Just be really carefull going out in the sun as your face will burn off and that cannot be good, and leave the non-working,non-prescription stuff alone as its all a scam. Trust me,i've been there. Man my face was really bad and now you can hardly tell I had acne but for a couple hardly noticable scars that dermabrasion will fix easily.

No. The dermatologist will assess your skin situation and go from there. Accutane is a last resort drug that is only to be used when all other treatments fail.

BTW, for the young ones here on the board, your doctor did tell you that Accutane will effectively stop any more growth for your body, right?

Accutane is also a powerful mutagenic, so if you're female, for God's sake don't get pregnant.

Also, in some regions, taking Accutane means that you are forever banned from giving blood.
