Depends what youre hooking them up to and what you'll be using them for. Generally, theyre OK though.

Driver size itself has little to do with accurate reproduction. Material, crossover circuitry, amp, cabinet design will all play a more important role in how a speaker sounds. Driver size will come into play for low frequencies.

While true, given that most people on this forum aren't looking to spend thousands on speakers my generalization is simpler ;)

So it may be more accurate to say that when cost a major consideration, larger speakers will typically sound better than smaller ones. But, as sound is such a subjective topic, listen for yourself and decide.

I purchased one of those cheap 5.1 sets for $300 and wished I had never done so. Isn't it better to have a good 2.1 sound system than cheap 5.1? Considering that the surround channels aren't utilized all the time and the fact that a $100 bookshelf set makes for excellent surround speakers when you upgrade, I recommend that path instead of dealing with HTIB sets

These are 6 ohm speakers. I believe Yamaha HTR-5940 is probably OK with 6 ohms, but, might potentially give you problems...

Anyhow, as others are saying, you won't get good range on them.

These probably sound better than the ones built in to the TV, or better than the speaker on your cell phone, but, these likely won't sound even as good as the ones in most cars. I'd look to getting the best 2 speakers you can get for $100ish ... and then, eventually adding subwoofer, and then adding rear speakers and a center channel in the future if/when more money is available...

That said, I do have a pair of old Yamaha satelites with a cheap little Yamaha Sub that I bought in like 1999 hooked up to one of my PCs. It works decently enough. So I got no issues with Yamaha as far as their speakers go, just this particular model looks a bit weak.
