I have two cameras to buy, but I dont want identical ones. I also have about $1600 to spend, not including accessories.

Nikon Coolpix 950
or
Olympus C-3000

I'm leaning towards these. What do you think? Can you think of any camera that is better than these, and still stay under the budget of 1600 for both??

I have the Olympus C3030Z, got mine for 900 when it was 1100, very nice camera, lots of features, has 32mb internal cache for 1 sec snap shots - useful in fast enviroment. but I dont like smart media but had no choice.. records 40sec video also. I also have the Kodak DC290, not bad either but it's a 2megapixel.

Have you check the canon s100? or s20, not sure, 3 megapixel but really small... good for parties..

Sony's DSC F505 is good too. 5x zoom, adjustable shutter sp, exposure, and aperture.

Plus you can take short movies. (I don't think the nikon/olympus can. I might be wrong though)

And check out this site too:

Another big consideration is the type of media that these cameras use. Nikon uses Compact Flash cards which are pretty common no? And the Olympus, Smartmedia. Also pretty common..

Im not too sure about what kind of card the Sony uses tho.

sony uses their gum stick.

And I say you cut your budget in half, and buy two canon s10's, send one this way..... hehe

But I'd go for the olympus. And for $800, you can probably snag the 3030z instead (unless that $800 was for memory and etc too).

I'm partial to Sony, both monitors and digital cameras. Sony has a wide variety of models and prices. Two words - CONSIDER SONY!
