I think they fugly (looks like a frog), it has no cargo space, the interior looks like crap, and its UGLY (I already said that I know;)). Better off with a Miata.

I like it.....I'd buy it if I can afford the insurance....and if I didn't need a lot of space.

Overpriced and underpowered. I'd also just get the miata. This is likely a fun car to drive, but don't count on having any power on the highway!

Radeon, the thing weighs 2200lbs, 140HP doesn't sound so bad for such a light car!

And my opinion on it? I think it's one of the worst looking things Toyota ever produced, it looks like a Boxster that got beat with an ugly stick....really bad. The front end is horrible, the rear end is horrible, and the side panels look horrid. Don't get me wrong, it seems like a fun car, but holy crap it's ugly.

It looks ghey stock. If any of you guys know about Pro-Motion down here in SoCal, one of the sales reps drives a fixed up spyder, and let me say, it is one BADASS 2-seater!!

Porsche Boxter wanna-be. Which is basically saying you envy men with small penis'?! Wait i dunno..

I'd say go with the better balanced Miata. If you've ever worked on a mid-engined car - it's a major pain in the a$$.. Miata all the way

I'm not going to argue that its a slow car. But they could have easily made it have alot more power.

And if you've ever driven a mid-engined car, you'll never want to go back. I've beaten the crap out of my hands working on my 914, but 5 minutes of driving is worth a month of work.

MR2 slow??? What the hell is wrong with you people...it got 6.9sec. 0-60 in car and driver i believe....and other magazines have gotten times close to that.......you people are missing the whole point of the car. Its supposed to be light, small, and have good handling. It is a little expensive.................Its faster than the Miata.........and handles better from what I've read in various magazines.

The people here calling the MR-2 "under powered" have never driven the thing, and are only parroting what they've read from spec sheets.

I've had the pleasure of driving one, and it can hardly be called "under powered." It's got all the power you'd need for a small two seater roadster.

Roadsters are NOT about brute power, and never have been. They're about turn on a dime handling. Besides, sub 7 seconds 0-60 is nothing to sneeze at.

The MR-S would be my 3rd car if I had the $$$ :)

My first car would be Audi S4
and my second would be a Tange ROver Discovery :)

I don't believe Toyota has a true sequential manual tranny, but more likely an tiptronic/shifttronic style thingy. Although htey bahave simlarly, tiptronic like systems has a torque converter (like an automatic) whereas a sequential manual behaves like a manual (ie there is a clutch and stuff) however you have to go up and down thru the gears (ie no 5->3 you have to go 5->4->3)

The MR2 Spyder DOES have a sequential shifter. A little research would find THIS:
