Why is it that as soon as people start to like a band, some people dislike them just because a lot of people like them? The music is still the same music.
In The End - Linkin Park was a good song when nobody knew the band existed, it's STLIL A GOOD SONG! Even if a million people love Linkin Park, that doesn't mean that their song sucks. Ugh... I am annoyed at hearing their songs all the time though, aka, radio overplayage factor... but that doesn't mean they suck.
As for Offspring, I think songs like Original Prankster are annoying as hell. Self Esteem and The Kids Aren't Alright are probably two of their best more popular songs. I'm not sure which album the song is from, but it's called "Feelings", i like the guitar in the intro. Come out and play is a kinda cool song, imo... I haven't heard all that much Offspring, nor have I heard the new single - but I do generally like the older stuff more, dunno why. Most bands are like that tho .. it's pretty hard to stay around for that many years and stay original and fresh sounding.
The Offpsring has had a long life and they've done pretty well, so congrats to them. On a sidenote, a more punk (ska at one point too) band, NOFX, has been around longer than The Offspring (about 3 years longer)... that surprised me. NOFX did a great job of being a great punk and ska band, AND not getting killed by popularity. To name a couple of songs I like by NOFX: Liza and Louise (sweet guitar solos in there), Dinosaurs Will Die, Jonny Appleseed, Drugs Are Good
P).
Well, I'm out.
