So Ive tenatively decided to go with the z-680's...paired with audigy 2 zs it should sound pretty good.

Im just looking for some opinions from peeps with experiece with them, and perhaps what might be better than them for approximately the same price.

So holla back... Whattaya think of your Z-680's!!?

Thanks all!

There pretty nice. There really really loud. I would personally buy the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 setup though.

I'd get the Klipsch pro-media ultras or the Creative gigaworks (I have the GW). A great many z680 owners complain of hiss, which indicates a low-quality amp. Many have had speakers or amp outputs die on them as well, and if I'm not mistaken, the sats are 1-way.

If you can afford an FX53, don't bother with PC speakers :) unless you have a small room that is...

Great for the price. I paid $48 at sams club (probably a local special though). The physical build quality and packaging really supprised me. Plus the speakers are hooked up by seprate removable wires (unlike cheaper ones that have some of the wires built in). I have a SB Audigy and the sounds good. Well I dont have anything to compare it to (my first non-free speakers), but for the price there great.

I have the center speaker infront of the monitor. Depending on what im doing, sometimes it sounds better with the center speaker off and sometimes on.

Thanks fer the advice...although I can afford the fx-53..I dont have tonnes of money to blow...and the room i am in is not huge..just right for some pc speakers around imo...

Jsut one more quick question...

If I get the z-680's, and I Am unhappy with them (hiss or otherwise) should I be able to return them for different ones or a refund?

Depends where you get them.

And I had mine for about a month now, and never once heard a hiss.

You have the Z640 and not the Z680s. Completely different speakers. I've both and Z680 hisses and Z640 don't. But they're completely different speakers. One's budget and other is premium.

You got the 680s for $48? You sure you don't mean the 640s?
