I like the Civic. The Prius is a good proof-of-concept, but it's shaped like Echo, which I don't like.
The Insight is nifty, but not very functional.
Regular Civic (12,000 miles per year): 342.86 gallons per year.
Civic Hybrid (12,000 miles per year): 250 gallons per year.
Difference: 92.86 gallons.
Dollar difference: $167.15 per year (assuming gasoline at $1.80 per gallon).
Years to recover that $2,000 difference: 11.97 years.
And that doesn't take into account the time value of money.
