yea that's what i thought too... although i am not sure if i want to pay the extra 2000-3000 for a hybrid car.
you know with these gas prices you wil quickly make up that 2K difference in gas savings.
Not really. The difference is roughly 13 mpg between the Civic Hybrid (approx. 48 mpg in normal driving) and the Civic (approx 35 mpg in normal driving).

Regular Civic (12,000 miles per year): 342.86 gallons per year.
Civic Hybrid (12,000 miles per year): 250 gallons per year.

Difference: 92.86 gallons.
Dollar difference: $167.15 per year (assuming gasoline at $1.80 per gallon).

Years to recover that $2,000 difference: 11.97 years.

And that doesn't take into account the time value of money.
