What do you think of the Durango R/T?

Similar to this one?

Of all domestic SUVs I'd probably go with this one, that is, if I were to recude myself to driving one of these monstrosities that everyone and their dog are flocking to. ;)
Just wondering what some people's opinions are on this model, no matter if you've used one or not. Where does it stand compared to other higher end SUVs?

Major hard on gas... great performer though, the 5.9L 360CID V8 really rocks that thing, it has kick butt power!

Anything that has R/T on it, is good in my books. I love the look of the Durango R/T too. if gas were no big deal for me, That'd be one of my top choices for an SUV.

Two of my friends drive Durangos. They are definitely roomy inside, and I think they look pretty good. I imagine that the R/T version is fairly quick for its size, too.

However, when I hear how much my friends spend on gas and how often they have to fill up, it is stunning. The R/T gets 12 city/16 hwy. That is just awful mileage!

IMO it doesn't. Durangos are unrefined and rather cheap feeling if you asked me, If I were in the market it wouldn't even be on my list.

Checkout an Acura MDX.

From Edmunds:
Durango R/T MSRP $37,070 MPG 12/16

Acura MDX MSRP $35,180 MPG 17/23

pics

Just wanted to add that both SUV's go 0-60 in 8.1 seconds.

yeah but with the durango you get a real engine that can actually do some work if need be... try towing a boat with the acura

my grandfather has a dodge durango - its pretty nice. The last row of seating is suck, half of my butt hangs off the seat - really uncomfortable. If i had it I wouldn't keep the last row of seating in it.

Maybe the Shelby Durango? It's Supercharged, but I don't think it's a Vortec....

Anyways, I think they're beautiful looking, there's something very solid and satisfying about it's image. Never driven in one, so I'm just speaking on behalf of its looks.

IMHO the acura, mercedes and lexus "suvs" are more or less glorified minivans that are less practical... if i could go back and do it all over again i'd get a station wagon or sedan. (i have a 4runner now.)
