What do you think of the 2001 Mercury Sable?

My mom just agreed to buy this car... still waiting on the insurance check to buy it, but, the owner is her friend so she's definately going to get it. It's fully loaded... has EVERYTHING... has 19k miles, all the recalls have been done on it already, she's paying 11,000. Sticker price is 22,000 (they still have the origional window sticker that was on it)... think it's a decent deal?
BTW... I'm not interested whether you like the look of the car or whatever, just wondering if that's a decent price for the car. Seems good to me, I drove it, it's a pleasure to drive... very comfy, engine is a little more ballsy than I expected too.

The Sable is a nice little car . My son ran an '88 untill it died . It had 300k+ on it and the motor was one of the few things that worked when he junked it . 11k isnt a low price for it , but with those low miles on it , it should be like new. Sounds like a good deal to me , I would opt for an extened warrenty .

safe car. not a terrible price for the mileage
I checked Cars.com and it seems right on...BUT, those are mostly dealer prices. I'm guessing you could get it for ~$9999 somewhere

It's a good deal for a nice car considering the low mileage.
(It would have been a steal for $10,000 or less.. but I would go for it)

p.s. Does it have that round bit in the center console where the radio is... i hate that round center console design by ford ( i wish that whole design team never got hired.. lol.. they messed Ford up big time)

I don't recall anything round... I mean, the mouldings are rounded, not sharp corners, but nothing circular.

What's the difference in the Sable and the Taurus?

The Sable is more of a step toward a luxury car compared to the Taurus... but they're built on the same chassis and use most of the same parts. The current owner also had a Tuarus and said the Sable rides a lot smoother, so maybe they use a better suspension setup.
