This won't win me any friends, but:

they would be really good. If they were written 200 years ago.

Read: e e cummings, Alan Ginsburg, Ezra Pound, walt whitman, william carlos williams, elizabeth browning, sylvia plath, and a great number of other poets. Sorry, it's not bad strictly speaking, but it doesn't say anything.

My best friend is Bengali and if he saw your site, he would have a million jokes on it. :) He is often annoyed and irritated by his culture and other south asian cultures, and at the same time finds it funny. He always has something to complain about or has a story to tell. Like the Sikh kids in our sixth grade graduation that wore their graduation caps OVER their turbans .. or the immigrants that stand outside the corner store near his apartment building in their pajamas and sandals .. and the accented voices that he does .. too funny :)

I can just feel sorry for him ! But, we call Bengalis pseudo-intellectuals. They are jus' pretenders !

A Special Way To Love

In spite of all that I may say
In anger and in a spiteful way
The fact remains that even today
I love you in a special way

This isn't good poetry. It mostly reads like a Hallmark Greeting Card.

I'm not trying to be mean, but you did ask what we think. I'm sure they were well received and much appreciated by the person you wrote them for, but if you want more public appreciation I'd listen to Novgrod's advice and study some of the poets he listed. BTW: I have a degree in English and Creative Writing so I would think I'm capable of recognizing good writing. Keep working at it!

never wrote anything so that it could be published ! or sth. that frightening.......
These are just my thoughts put in words ......
And there is no competetion ...... cos' they are mine ... not copied or styled on anyone

:)
