Your choices look real good! One problem if you plan on overclocking the fsb, the IBM 60GXP drives are notorious for choking on a overclocked bus. I think a Thermalright SK6 with a 31cfm might cool pretty good without the infernal Delta noise.

Drool...drool. Very nice setup. My 4 month old 1.3MHz seems so slow now. Time to upgrade!

Your HS is top-notch too. Plus you have the added bonus of slapping on an 80mm versus the standard 60mm. Since most standard 80mm will pump out enough CFMs as a high powered 60mm, you should be fine. I'd pick something like the Panaflo FBA08A12H, you get 39.6 CFM at 32dBA.

The Panaflo mentioned in the above post sounds like a good fan for your 8045, but if you're willing to spend a little more money and can take a little bit more noise (5db) then I would recommend the same fan as I use on my 8045: a Papst Ultra High Output fan, Papst 8412NGH which is 46,5cfm/37db. It keeps my 1600+ oc'ed to 1680 at only 41C under load, idle it's 39C.

right now, i have that very same panaflo on my pal8045, and love it. however, i had wanted to put a papst on it. where did you buy yours, Egrimm? and i know its subjective, but how loud would you say your fan is? (i.e., can you hear it from the next room, can you hear it over low music in the same room, or something like that)

First, I don't have one Papst Ultra high Output fans in my case, I have three (intake, exhaust and cpu heatsink), but it still less loud than when I used a DragonOrb3 with a 7000rpm fan (which, according to Anands review is a little more noisy than the 7k Delta Screamer) and 2 noname case fans.
I can hear the fans over low music, as in music that is barely audible when you talk (= you don't have to talk louder than in a silent to room to be heard), but once I set the volume to more than 25% on my Soundworks Desktop Theatre DT2500 I barely can hear the fans.
When the door is open and the house is silent they can be heard from the next room, but even my old rig with only the fan on the Socket1 hsf and graphics card can easily be heard that way.
I compared the Papst fans to my old noname 80mm fans by connecting 'em to a AT-psu (since it doesn't depend on the mobo to turn on) and the Papst fans weren't much louder but had nearly double the airflow (at least it felt so).

I got 'em from a danish (I'm a dane) web-shop that always has several types of Papst fans in stock, the name is StudieData, but the site is in danish and I don't know if they ship to other countries.

well, i checked out the site, and managed to find the papst fans (even though i dont speak a word of danish). they want the eqivelant of around17 bucks USD for the one you have, which i couldnt afford, especially after international shipping (i dont even wanna know how much that would be, even if they would). guess im "stuck" with my panaflos. 😉

Yeah, the Papst fans aren't exactly cheap, but it's no so bad considering that the normal price here in Denmark (in the local shops) is around 12$ per noname 80mm fan. Computer parts is more costly al in all here in Europe, and Denmark is even one of the cheapest places since computers is very normal here (there are more computers per citizen here than in the US).

sanyo denki makes some of the best case fans around, they are my favorite.... If you can find a cheap source, go for it...

I have more sanyo denki fans that any other brand...And I have about 40 fans at home!

I'd have to say my personal order is: Sanyo Denki > Papst > Panaflo > Sunon & Y.S. tech & all the other guys after those two...
