What do you think of my credit score?

Hello,

So after getting accepted into law school about a month ago, I've decided to have fun by figuring out how in the hell I'm going to pay $35,000 a year. So of course I need to do FAFSA, which of course means I need to do taxes and also check my credit score (for the other loans I need since FAFSA will pay for only half, at best).

This what I got from TransUnion, via www.annualcreditreport.com:

Score: 838
Grade: B
Your credit score ranks
higher than 65% of the
nation's population

Basically, all I need is a good enough score to get me a decent loan (or 3) for law school. You guys think I will be fine? Oh, I'm 25 years old.

Thanks!

it makes you subscribe to a free-trial of credit monitoring. As soon as you get your score, call them and cancel. This is what I did and it was really easy.

First I've heard of it being a scam site.

EDIT: I take that back. I was thinking of annualcreditreport.com. Never used the free... one.

Here's a link to a screen cap.

This is what the site said about me:

About your TransUnion Personal Credit Score
Your TransUnion Personal Credit Score is displayed above, and was calculated with the VantageScore credit scoring formula. Your credit score is a snapshot of the contents of your credit report at the time the score was calculated. Using objective, impartial formulas to translate the contents of your credit report into a 3-digit score enables lenders to evaluate your application for credit in a fast, fair and more objective manner. Remember, we constantly update the information contained in your credit report, so your TransUnion Personal Credit Score only represents the score a lender would receive if they requested it today.

Summary
Given that you have a high credit score, lenders should be able to conclude that you are capable of repaying your debts. This would then enable lenders to provide you with good interest rates and loan offers. Lenders' offers will differ based on the attribute information you provide concerning your monthly income, employment history, and monthly debt; this information may aid in the determination of whether you receive an excellent offer, or just a good offer. Certain credit cards, on the other hand, may be harder to obtain because lenders still see room for improvement. To improve your credit score, continue to pay your debts on time.

It's all jive to me. Am I legit?

Reading on Wikipedia, it seems that it's a "Vantage" score that creditors aren't using yet.

Sorry didn't read well (it's early). What were the other 2 then? Did you get full copies of all the reports?

Yes I did. It's a super long report, and everything checks out. So then I sprung $8 for the actual score and I just posted the pic and summary text above.

What do you guys think

Do not get 2 credit scores back-to-back in a period of a week....

Your credit is good enough to get a student loan.
enjoy

I thought credit scores had a max value of 850. The screenshot shows 990 as the max. If you have a FICO score of over 700 (and it appears that 60% of the population does), you're doing well.

Here's an look at credit scores among the US population in 2003: (from About.com)

Up to 499: 1%
500 - 549: 5%
550 - 599: 7%
600 - 649: 11%
650 - 699: 16%
700 - 749: 20%
750 - 799: 29%
Over 800: 11%

So should I do a fico thin or should I just be fine with what I got, whatever it is?

All this is for is student loans, albeit insanely expensive ones.
