What do you think of ITT Tech?

Hello!

I have taken about 2 quarters now at ITT Tech, and it seems to be pretty decent so far. However, I have seen very many negative responses online to the school. I am interested in a career with electrical devices, and I am in the CEET program there.

Any personal experiences?

Anyone an employer that has thoughts about ITT?

I am thinking of going to the local University. Either way I would have a bachelor's degree in electronics.

Thoughts?

Better than nothing, always seemed to me to have the reputation of a community college.

There's another thread about ITT floating around too.

IMHO local University Bachelor > ITT whatever, University degree is taken much more seriously.

I always had a negative opinion of ITT because I felt they were targeting losers who watched Springer and those jackasses would get their degree in only two years! Then take away possible jobs.

I was going o Devry but have since stopped because I got the same vibe from that place... people around here don't much like Devry either it seems. Now I'm probably just going to go to a community college and get an AA then transfer to Uni of WA.

ITT is a trade school. Classes are not usually transferable as credits.

No matter what the TV ads show, "results are not typical".

The tuition costs are as high as they can rape the loan/grant program.

It may be to late for you, but get a list of employment recommendations from the ITT offices and then ask the companies about the quality of the graduates and how long the graduates stay. When they leave their first real world job, is it voluntary?

I would get out now and go to your local university. The credits you've already taken at ITT won't transfer most likely, so you'll end up losing that money. But before you get too deep into the coursework and throw more money away, sign up at a local Uni now.

I've heard from someone that even local tv repairshops would not hire someone with an ITT education.

Personally, I'd try to get whatever credits you can at a local community college and transfer to a 4 year university (state or private, avoid University of Phoenix).

I remember looking into a medical billing program at Remington College (another for-profit college), and it was over $20k, where I could take that same program at a community college for $2k!

Better than nothing, but the fact that credits are not transferable should tell you something......

If you're going in to be a tech, it got me a job as an engineering tech. But honestly, you're better off as an engineer. Same work, better pay, more options.
