I have an interview there tomorrow for some seasonal work...(i'm a college student/unemployed at the moment). Pays 10 bucks an hour.

just wondering what people think of the store/company.

I think it's a nice place...my family likes their selection over Sams, usually, so we haven't been back to Sams in a year or so, despite still holding membership. The workers are usually pretty nice, so it should be a good place to work...quite honestly, we never speak to anyone other than if we're ordering something, taking a free sample, or paying at the registers.

My wife calls Costco the $200.00 store, we seem to never leave that place without spending at least that amount.

Adul got me hooked on Costco (among many other evil spending habits.) To say the least, they have the best prices in town on cartons of cigarettes, which alone is worth the price for membership. =) Beyond that, great place overall.

Two thumbs up!

good place to work (i know a few people who work there), good place to shop, i just love costco. they have good food there (mmm, chicken bake) and their return policy is awesome. the free samples are a nice perk also. not to mention, they close fairly early, so hours wont be bad. like the above poster, two big thumbs up to costco.

Well i'm glad you guys seem to like it. Thats good. I think i would pretty much take this job regardless since it pays 10 bucks an hour. Hard to find a decent paying PART time job.

My parents used to shop there when I was little. Then we moved, and there wasn't a CostCo around.

I really don't think so as the vast majority of the products are american owned companies, and the products carried mostly are not manufactured in China.

Yea I'm 99% sure it's american owned. I really like Costco, really good prices, free food, what more can you ask for?. On another note, I never shop at Sam's Club since Wal Mart owns them. Support the underdog! =P

There's a CostCo storage facility in my town. I'm trying to get a job there over the break. Even UPS isn't hiring in their local location to me in Joliet, IL -- and they specifically say they need holiday help (I checked a few weeks ago as well by the way!).

I have three words which seek deep into the hearts of American people, but it's so very true:

OUR ECONOMY SUCKS.

YES! That really is what it stands for. Costco bought out Price Club.

I asked an employee and he said that the corperate paper work shows that name
even though it is not shown on his pay check.

It is a non-issue, I just like to know where my money goes.

Stuff isn't cheap enough to justify the $45 yearly membership fee and the time-wasting checkout lines. It's supposed to be a great place to work, however.

Besides the great IN store deals, the gas is almost always cheaper if not the same price as local filling stations. 2 thumbs up!

I know a few people who work at Costco and it is probably the highest paying in the retail store industry. Experienced clerks can make as much as $20/hr. with full union benefits.

Costco does NOT stand for China Overseas Tranportation Co. They are based out of Issaquah, WA (~17 miles east of Seattle) and began doing business in the Pacific NW some 25 years ago. They merged with San Diego based Price Club in the early 90s.

Personally though, I don't much like Costco. Their stores are always crowded with long lines at the registers, their parking lots are nightmares, they don't advertise their selection and prices (so I don't know what available beforehand), and their actual prices are only good deals if buy more in bulk that you probably actually need. It's just too hit-and-miss for me. And a gallon of pickles for $3 bucks isn't actually a good deal if the pickles rot before you're halfway through the jar. Bulk isn't always a good deal -- sometimes you're being tricked into over-consumerism.
Still, my GF keeps a membership there (which means I have an automatic membership, Costo is cool that way), and hey I just picked up a year's supply of razors for 15 bucks last week. Can't knock that. They have good stuff, it's just hit-and-miss. And because they don't advertise much, I can easily walk into one of the stores and walk out without finding any deals.

I get a free memebership and then some. I'm an executive member which costs $100 however getting 2% costco money back I got a check this year for $211 which I used to purchase a new membership at the register. Then I also get the same from AMEX.

I buy everything I can there...matresses, appliances, tires, tools, sinks and fixturs, clothes, DVD's and of course food..It's a steal. I wish they sold home depot items...
