ABS Computers has the same owner as Nutrend Computers. They have very good prices. I used to manage Nyton Computers as sale manager, which was a branch of ABS Computers also. Customer service is very good. I am no longer with them but the branches are so far from me now that I cannot visit them as much. Nutrend is the retail and whole sale store while ABS is online only. So go and visit their store at Nutrend.

The only thing I don't like about the system above is that it uses the asus p4s800 motherboard, I would really prefer the p4p800.

ABS = parent company of newegg...
i don't think it's part of nutrend.. cuz my neighbor worked at abs for a year.. and he never told me anything about nutrend...
plus they aren't even located at the same place... whereas abs and newegg are next door neighbors

My first computer (once I left home) was an ABS box based on the K6-II. I loved it at the time. It was a good little machine for a great price, and the customer service wasn't that bad either. I'll have to check their website out again after hearing those RSR.

I bought an ABS comp about 3 years ago. They were great w/helping me RMA back a bad hard drive when it died. It was a good computer (P3 733), and only recently has been scrapped into parts. The only trouble I had was when Windows got fuxored, I needed to reinstall but all I had was a "repair disk" not a full copy of Windows. I guess that's common though, for manufacturers to install OEM copies of windows and not provide a with a full copy of Windows on CD. IMO, HP has some decent prices on really low end comps, and Dell has some good prices on refurbished comps. But ABS has good prices and service for all their comps. Can't go wrong with them, really.

I am 100% that Nutrend is part of ABS. Those who works with ABS does not know that but those who work with Nutrend knows b/c ABS build the systems for Nutrend just like Nyton before. Nutrend tech only build systems if the customers want it right away. I don't know if Newegg is theirs but Nutrend definitely are. When I was at Nyton, there were a Nutrend in the City of Industries and one in Texas as my accountant was sent to Texas when it opened. PC Club used to hate us when Nyton was still opened. We always had lower prices for the same products.
I think your neighbor might not work in the corporate office but maybe he works in the production line. Maybe he's not allow to disclose this info or maybe you did not ask him. But I used to do special orders and I always call ABS for the search. Later I demanded my own account and found my own vendors as it take too much time and procedure to go through ABS sales.

As far as quality, it's the same place whether you buy with ABS or Nutrend.
If you want a different motherboard, just write an email to the sales department and they can contact you with a custom build system. The way, they sell their systems is like this, they take their total cost and mark up the percentage. They do not separate the part costs then add assembly like most other places. If you want local support and you do live near a Nutrend then buy it from Nutrend. ABS is gear toward nation wide customers who are not near Nutrend.
Bottom line is that tech support is a lot better than HP/Compaq, Dell, and Gateway. No India. But a lot of Chinese people but their English is good though.

It has been a long time so you should call Nutrend or contact them by email. Their prices are not the highest or lowest. The prices are decent.

That b/c you did not request the copy of it. If you did, they would charge you the CD as an OEM price. Other than that they preinstalled all systems with Windows unless request not. They have drives that are preinstalled using machines so it's easier to just put a drive in rather than putting a new drive in and partition it. When I was there, if you want to run any other OS like OS/2, we had the system ordered without the hard drive and put the HD separately when the system gets to our store.

I got my PC from Nutrend and when I had to RMA my mobo a few months ago they actually had me call a number where the guy answered "ABS Computers..." Also, I bet that they would substitute a different mobo if you asked them to because that is exactly what Nutrend did for me when I ordered my PC. Assuming that is, that they have the mobo you want in stock. I've been pleased with thier service, but pass on the 3rd party 2net at-home service, it's not worth the hassle.

Ive heard only good things about ABS...especially about their customer service. If I wasn't addicted to building my pc's, id most likely buy one from them to see what everyone is raving about.

If they are NewEgg's parent company I wouldn't expect anything less!

I don't think Newegg is theirs. Just b/c they are next door to each other means they are one of another. If you are ABS would you spread out your stores for better profit or put an online store next to another?
