What do you think of a 2006+ Chrysler 300 V6 3.5?

I'm looking at new cars and I really like the Chrysler 300. Is the V6 engine decent? Will the car move when I hit the gas pedal?

Anyone have one here?

Which V6 is it? 2.7 liter or the 3.5 liter. My old company had a number of 300's with the 3.5...and while I wasn't a huge fan of the transmission (I'm really never a fan of automatics though)...the engine was not bad. A colleague of mine at work as a Charger with the 2.7 liter V6 and the engine performance is pretty pathetic with this engine (plus I think the transmission has 1 less cog...but you would need to check me on that...but in my opinion that would make it just that much worse).

You'll likely be satisfied with its get up and go unless you are used to a fairly fast automobile. I'd definitely give it a test drive and make sure you are happy with its get-up and go. I'm sure you could get a great deal on one these days.

I still need to save the money. I will definitely test drive one. I still need to look into reliability. My current car is a 2002 Dodge Neon so I assume the 300 will kick better.

Yes...the 300 should be a nice improvement over the Neon. Honestly I'd suggest a Pontiac G8 with a V6 over the 300 though. Much better car in my opinion and similarly priced.

Ah, I like the G8 but I don't like aggressive sports cars too much unless they have the better engines in them. I like the 300 because it has a luxury presence to me. Like the older boxy luxury cars. I also like the Dodge Charger a lot but I would jump on a 5.7 V8.

Everyone has their preferences...but I would at least test drive the G8 just to see. I understand you may not like the styling...but in my opinion it is a MUCH better car. But again...everyone has different preferences/tastes.

The 300 looks stellar with the right set of wheels/tires
I just got done with a week long rental of the Dodge version of this car, with the 3.5L. It felt a little anemic. I bet the V8 is alot more fun.

I must say, after a week in that car, my 04 Impala felt quick and nimble

yep, the G8 *should* be miles ahead of the 300 in terms of engine, drivetrain, and interior. Going to the V8's, 2008 G8 GT's can be had relatively cheaply depending on your area.

definitely check it out, though it may not be your thing in the end :)

I liked the way the 300 looked when it first came out, but now every where I look, I see a 300. I'm not sure if the one you're looking at is the AWD version; if not, then it's RWD, which is something I'd never buy unless I had a couple of other cars.

The interior of the 300 looks exactly like the interior of the Magnum, Charger, Durango, Aspen, Cherokee, etc. It looks cheap and feels cheaper.

IIRC the 3.5 in that year was a holdover from the older LH series cars (LHS, Concorde and Intrepid) I had an LHS for about two weeks, then it blew a headgasket. :(
Normally they are fairly reliable from what else I have read, maybe I got a lemon or it had been abused.
