What do you think killed this man?

In the first picture I see rocks on the bank of the river, not far from where he would've landed. That tells me that the river may have been shallow and more rocks awaited him. He then landed on one of them and broke something then somehow hit his head and became unconscious in the water. However, if the river was deep I have no idea what could have killed him...

My money would be on the impact of the water knocking him out, then while he was knocked out with his face down into the river, he swallowed too much water and drowned.

Maybe you're right. From the picture it looks like he jumped semi-horizontally instead of vertically-upright like you're supposed to. Landing in water horizontally is extremely painful, like hitting concrete.

Maybe he died like how Princess Diana died where his internal organs were displaced by the impact tearing some veins/arteries?

Poor form on landing. Dropping 100+ feet and hitting water is like hitting concrete if you land wrong.

Around here, there are laws about dropping your wang over the side of bridges.

wow that sucks. that definitely does not look like 40m from the pics (not saying it isn't or anything) but that is 120 feet and that is REALLY high to just jump off into water. this day and age i'm shocked there isn't a video of it.

That's my guess.

And no one tried to help him when he was struggling in the water? Jeez. 🙁

If I name was "Wang" I'd kill myself too. :\

The sudden stop and horizontal impact with the water causing internal injuries, then drowning killed him. Maybe he didn't know how to swim too.

so you would jump 120 feet down to go help him out?
Yes, that's exactly what I said.

Like the guy on the bank in that pic, too busy taking cellphone pictures I guess? Sad.

I disagree.

It was the sudden stop that killed him.

I've always felt that the term "fall" implied a near-instantaneous deceleration to 0 meters per second at the end. Otherwise we would just say "he flew down from the bridge but failed to avoid the water below."

What about free fall? :colbert:

They don't call it "free flying" do they? If you're thinking of an orbit, that's no different. Since there is no such thing as a perfect vacuum, an orbit will eventually degrade and the orbiting body will plunge into the gravity well of the thing its orbiting. So think of it as a really, really long fall with a really spectacular stop at the end.

This guy clearly didn't read Douglas Adams, when he said that the proper way to learn how to fly is to throw yourself at the ground, and miss.
