Feb 8 - After waiting for many months to throw down the money and buy a pair of P3-1000Es, I start checking Pricewatch and discover that nobody has them. I dig through a few posts here and discover that Star Components might have them in stock. I place my order, cross my fingers, and within a few minutes I get a confirmation e-mail, a good sign.
Feb 9- I check their website, and my order says "yes" under shipping status, which, while cryptic, I decide to take as a further good omen.
Feb 10- I e-mail Star asking for a tracking number. They reply, telling me that my order cannot be shipped because the P3-1000e is sold out. I'm bummed, but not shocked. I call them, and the woman I speak to has a positive outlook with regard to the possibility that they will be in stock within a couple of weeks. I ask her if they can hold the order, and ship if/when then CPUs show up. She says "OK". Cool.
Feb 10- I post in this thread asking about the deal with these CPUs. Bad news. I'm not very hopeful about getting these things anymore.
Feb 14- I e-mail Star asking for some sort of confirmation that they will have these CPUs in stock again. No reply from them. No surprise from me.
Feb 15 2:00 pm- I decide on a pair of P3 1000EBs instead, and I place an order with Newegg.
Feb 15 4:30 pm- I arrive at home to find a UPS Infonotice posted on my front door. Attempted delivery of one package from Star Components. Will attempt again on Monday.
Feb 15 5:00 pm- I call UPS to request that the package be held at the warehouse so I can come pick it up.
Feb 18 9:00 am- I arrive at UPS warehouse to pick up my package, but it has apparently gone out on the truck again. Perhaps tomorrow. Perhaps not. We'll see.
So what do you think is in my box?
Disclaimer: this is not a bitch or a rant. I know these guys are not very reputable, and that they have a habit of sending people stuff that they didn't order. I gambled.
UPDATE: Feb 19- I arrive at UPS warehouse again. Package is on the truck again. I usually get a chuckle out of the guys that get really pissed off at the warehouse, but today, I am one of those guys. Must be karma.
I am going to a lot of trouble for a package that has (by my estimate) a 90% probability of having the wrong s**t in it. GRRRRRRRR.:|
