What do you think is causing the problem.

I have just built a secondary computer to use behind a wall for a music server and other things along as having it as a spare. I have been experiencing some blue screens recently and wondered if anyone could tell me if there is something out there that can tell what is causing the problem? Here are the components I have.
Mainboard : ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. M5A97 EVO
Chipset : ATI RD9x0
Processor : AMD Phenom II X4 965e @ 3400 MHz
Physical Memory : 8192 KBDDR3-SDRAM
Video Card : AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
Hard Disk : SAMSUNG SSD 830 Series SATA Disk Device (128GB)
Hard Disk : Western Digital WD10 01FALS-00J7B0 SATA Disk Device (1000GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH20NS15
DVD-Rom Drive : Toshiba-Samsung CDDVDW SH-222AB
Monitor Type : Dell Computer DELL E2010H - 20 inches
Monitor Type : DENON-AVAMP -
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Operating System : Windows 7 Professional Professional Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
DirectX : Version 11.00
Could the SSD be the culprit? If so, how can I tell? Thanks.

Click start; type Event Viewer in the search box, then click on Event Viewer. Expand Windows Logs and look in both Applications and System for any error messages. In the center pane; click on the Details tab for that error message, then copy/paste the error message and post back here with it.

Also, right-click on your desktop Computer icon and select Properties. In the window that opens; click Advanced system settings. Under Startup and Recovery; click the Settings button, and under System failure be sure that Automatically restart is unchecked.

It looks like the CasaTunes software is causing a COM error. I briefly looked at their site and wondered if you have the latest software version? In the meantime, try addressing the 10016 DCOM error by opening an elevated command prompt and running this command:

net localgroup Administrators "NT Authority\LocalService" /add

Close the command prompt and reboot to test. If the problem continues, and you are in fact running the the latest version of CasaTunes software, this excellent tutorial from ITExperience.Net offers a step-by-step resolution for Event 10016 in Windows 7.

I don't think it is necessarily their software as I have the latest but I think it might be the adapter I had to use. My old build had a serial port that was connected to my Russound receiver. My new build has no serial port so I had to use a usb to serial adapter and it has been doing some funny things. What I think I really need is some adapter that will connect to my com port on my motherboard and be and then be able to normally connect to my serial cable. I can't seem to find any adapters though. I must be typing in the wrong words for the search.

That makes sense; without knowing about the adapter, it appeared from the event log that CasaTunes was the culprit causing the COM error. I'd still suggest doing the DCOM fix to eliminate that error, as DCOM is a core Windows component.

I don't have any PCIe left open. Is there one for a PCI slot? I will check. Would there be anything wrong with one for the com port on the board if I can find one that is?? I will try the fix also.

I had to look at the manual for your mobo to make sure, and it certainly does have an IDC 10 pin header. Asus actually makes an optional RS232 serial port adapter that's virtually identical to StarTech's RS232 serial port adapter that you linked to, and at only one-fifth the cost of the PCIe card...I'd jump on it!

Even though it's shown in the manual as an optional accessory; a quick web check didn't turn up a serial adapter made by Asus. The StarTech adapter will perform just fine; they have a good reputation.
