I have a sony fxa36 laptop, and I'm looking to get rid of it. What do you think the average user would pay for such a piece?

Welcome to the forums. Just so you know, price checks are not allowed here.

Head on over to Ebay and see what something similar is going for. That'll get you in the ballpark.

Edit:
You can try selling it here in the For Sale/For Trade forum. The advantage is that everyone knows everyone else, so you know when you're dealing with a reputable trader. The disadvantage is that the people here are educated in computer hardware, so you're going to have a hard time squeezing out any extra dollars for the item.

If you really want to try and maximize your sales price, then take it to Ebay. But then you run the risk of dealing with a dishonest bum.
