what do you think I should do

My brand new system (home built) is experiencing some instability. I was all-out crashing in prime 95, so I took out a stick of ram (from a dual pack, g. skill), and have not had any stability problems, but I still failed prime 95 after 2.5 hours. I had run it the day before right after the removal and didn't have any errors after 3.5 hours.

I've got an RMA number for the ram, but I'm not sure it's that. It doesn't make sense that both sticks would be buggy.

What do you guys think it could be? My PS is new, and is a highly recommend model from this forum (fortron 450W). CPU is new, mobo is new, on-board sound, and fresh XP installation. If I RMA both sticks of ram, I won't have a system for two weeks, as I don't know anyone with any parts I could substitute in for my system to test stuff.

Should I send in the RMA? Both sticks or just the one that seems to be worse? Or could it be my mobo or PS causing the problems? Voltage reading are dead on and temps are low across the board.

Again, I haven't (yet) crashed since removing the one stick of ram, though prime 95 failed after 2.5 hours.

Alright, well now I've run memtest86 on both chips and neither had any errors after over 1.5 hours each. I'm running them both at the same time now, though I have a feeling I still won't be getting any.

Now what the hell do I do? I still haven't had a lockup since removing the 2nd stick of ram, so I'm very confused. Could it be my PS? Mobo? Proc? Any way for me to check?

I'm thinking maybe I should try moving the two sticks to slots 3 and 4 to see if maybe there is some small problem on the mobo. Other than that, I've got no clue what else to try.

Here's an update:
After running memtest with both sticks and no errors, I decided to try the system again in that configuration, where it was crashing before. It crashed again in under a few hours use. Now, I've moved over both sticks to the other two slots on the mobo. No problems yet. I also ram prime95 in small FFTs to test the CPU and went 3 hours without an error.

Here's to hoping it's a mobo error w/ the 2nd ram slot, and I won't really have to worry about it.
