I am not very familar with it so I cannot comment on it as well as some can, but I think I agree with most of it.

I have no problem with legally regulated immigration. It is the illegal immigration that I object to. We don't enforce our laws. Perhaps we should let it be known that illegal immigrants who are apprehended will have their reproductive organs removed before deportation. Maybe that would help.

US has no immigration policy. It's a free for all paid for by the tax payer. And the end result is the law enforcment agencies, FBI, CIA and local police are overwhelmed with criminals and terrorists here under the guise of immigration. But a high civilian body count from the next terrorists event will end immigration in consummate in the US.

Its a complete mess, and we need a president that has the balls to fix it. Buchanan had the balls, but of course wouldnt win because hes automatically labled racist. This whole "Homeland Security" crap is all hogwash if we wont protect our borders from illegals and terrorists that can walk across the border any time they want. IMHO, we should reroute all money spent fighting the drug war and put it into immigration reform. Which, would in turn, end up fighting the Drug War at the same time.

For the most part I like Bush, but this love affair, a$$ kiss routine he has with Vincente Fox and the Mexican people makes me want to puke:angry:

But don't forget that the US became the superpower it is today after many years of massive immigration (think back of the years 1890s to the 1920s) and open borders. Immigrants are usually poor people seeking a better life and wanting to work very hard. Plus, most of them come to the country thinking about it as the dream land, where everyone has its chance. Most of them love the country.

But still, I agree that some and even a lot come only to profit from the social services and some (read here terrorists) come to destroy the country...

Still, immigrants are the roots of the country. They know the value of money, they work hard, and since the've often known war and/or famine, they are not spoiled kids who think they deserve everything because they're a citizen of the largest country on Earth.

Before they start debating immigration policy, they should first at least make an effort to enforce the laws that are already on the books. They should start by deporting everyone who has overstayed their visa (their documentation makes them easy to track down). Next, they should deport all the illegal immigrants. Finally, they should actually *patrol* that border they have with Mexico. The additional costs to pay for security, etc. are probably a small fraction of the amount that's spent on education, health care, etc. for illegal immigrants.

Without immigration, who would:

- drive the taxicabs?
- staff the convenience stores?
- harvest the crops?
- serve you delicious ethnic food?
- clean the office buildings?

Well after we cut immigration we're going to end minimum wage and all forms of welfare except corporate bailouts, crop subsidies, and military-defense complex. Then all the welfare moms, dads, and children over 12 can work for $3/hr in the jobs that we used to pay immigrants $4/hr. This will lead to a dramatic expansion in the US economy.

Our immigration policy would really stink if it existed. Businesses need this cheap illegal labor so illegal immigration will continue. I grew up in a third world country. Some parts of America are beginning to remind me of those third world countries. Quite sad.

The worst part is we will continue to provide services to these people that do not pay any taxes. And what happens if there is ever a draft? All these illegal immigrants will enjoy the freedoms our nation provides, but they will not have to goto war. Sorry I get a little mad thinking about it.

The U.S. immigration policy is a practical joke. In theory it works, but in practice it does not. Not because it is not practical, but because they are not enforcing the laws as they should. And most importantly, citizens could not care the least. An average American seems to know nothing about documents needed when travelling. If you ask them what a passport is, they do not know. Before someone pounds upon me, I did not say all citizens. There are a few relatively well-informed or well-travelled citizens.

Why do I mention that? Well, it is for reasons like this that congress passes bills that allow many labourers in (i.e., H-1 visa), who eventually file for and are granted green card. It is also this that allows the government slack on strict immigration laws and enforcing border control.

(Of course this is my opinion. Go ahead and rip it, but don't rip me! ;) :D)

That's a start. Minefields would be the next logical step.
