Moving to p4, havent had pentium since a 200mhz mx:/

Going to a Albatron PX865PE Pro and p4 2.4C 800FSB.

Im not new to overclocking but oc'ing p4's I am.

Ill be oc'ing it with 2x256 pc 4000 hyper x.

Ill use the stock hs/f for now.

With the stock heatsink, what do yout hink I can get stable?

Also recommend me a nice hs/f combo so I can pick it up in a few weeks or so.

With a good air cooling setup, what do you think I could hit with this combo?

I am using a Thermaltake Spark +7 copper heatsink and fan, it cools very well and (you dont have to run it full blast, which is very noisy ), unfortunetly i have my comp in a cold basement so my temps may be a little bias but i have my O/C to 250mhz fsb and runing my RAM at 5:4 with 2-2-2-6 timings, stable and i barely scrape 41 cel at full load ( using Prime95) i could prob go higher but may need some faster ram or just go to a 3:2 ratio , but im a gamer and i need a little more mem bandwidth so i like it were its at.

As far as the stock heatsink? as long as you have good air-flow in your case 2.9 to 3.0 ghz shouldnt be a prob.
One reccomendation i would make is; Do not use the stock pad on the heatsink us arctic silver compound or something instead!
i would NOT go over 55-60 cel at full load as far as temps are concerned with the P4C

I am not that familar wth your choice of motherboard i would reccomend ASUS P4P800 or P4C800; or even the ABIT IC7 Max 3
but sounds like you already have that one......

BTW what video card are you using?

I have the Albatron board. Excellent mid level board. Average for overclocking. But a nice price. The Asus boards are really nice, I had the P4P800 and it overclocked very good. It went back to Newegg today. It died. Bummer. Back to the Albatron and I have to trottle my P4 down by 300mhz with the same set up.

IMHO
