Thinking about checking into one of the above programs or maybe a similar program at the local community college. or should I maybe look into getting a degree?
I was looking at the Security program on the page i linked.
i'm 26 and work full time from 8:30AM to 5:00PM M-F. I'm currently paying on 1 student loan which will take several years yet to pay off. i'm really not looking forward to getting another loan. i also currently make about $1800 a month and probably over half of it already goes to bills of some kind (car payment, insurance, etc). I also really don't want to go back to school but I need to do something.
also, i need something where i can find a job when i'm finished doing what i learned because if i don't use it, i lose it. it happened to me when i went for my MS certs. took the classes while working at my previous job (which didn't need those skills) and spent 2 years looking for a job to use those skills in. once i found a job (current one) that i thought i could maybe relearn those skills, i still don't get to use many of them because i'ma fvcking help desk monkey instead of what they hired me for.
i think IT may still be the right career for me, i just need to find my niche. its definitely not help desk though.
would it be possible to take a few web design/programming classes and get into a job doing that or would i still need a degree or something?
