What do you think about the "NIC"? (New Internet Computer)

Only $199... and no service contract...

I am guessing it could be easily modified.
Any thoughts?

cool.. though I would like something that allows me to chose what method of connection to the internet you have (say you use your main computer with a 56k modem, or ADSL, or cable modem, or a router connected to a cable/adsl modem). if I could find something like that, I'd be all set!

I'd like something like this cause I don't always want to use my main computer for surfing the internet, it would be handy.

"The NIC can get on the Internet two ways - either directly via a telephone line or through a network connection. The NIC's built-in 10/100 Base-T Ethernet circuitry also enables use with a DSL or cable modem."

I guess this means that you can plug it into a router (as long as you configure it properly), or a computer with a NIC in it..

now all I need is money! hehe.. I won't get one, though if I had money, I possibly would...

also, I see it doesn't include the monitor price.. ahh well.. still pretty good.

My mom is getting one for my little sister at home (I'm at college). My sis is always hogging the computer using the net.

I have an old 15' monitor she can use for it.

$199 is not a bad price for a little surfing machine.
