Stupid idea for stupid Americans ( BTW. I am American. Just not stupid. )

I bet the top-line tankbook will be in the $7000 range. It will probably suck batteries like the Hummer H2 sucks gasoline.

The Hummer notebook is made by Itronix, a good company known for rugged machines.

That said, I would still get a Toughbook. Now compared to a regular Itronix, we'll see :)

Interesting. Love how people comment based on a name and don't even look at specs. Stupid anandtechians

Six hour battery life

Built in GPS with a (so they say) decent antenna

Screen 30% brighter than "other ruggedized" notebook daylight viewable screens (other == toughbook?)

Faster than the 12" tough book (1.2 vs 1.8 ghz, or is there a newer model?)

Silly expensive: up to $4,500??????

I could see this filling a niche not filled by toughbook.

Of course that niche is not the soccer mom/student listed in their marketing (she loves it because it is yellow!). And the niche market would probably forgo the hummer version and just get the plain-jane version from Itronix

I think its ugly aswell.
Also none of those people on yhr hummer website need that note book most would be suited with a ordinary laptop. The only advantage that it has is the brighter screen, i'd be much more trusting of a tough book for durability even though they are slower (hell you dont buy a tough book for gaming do you)

Built in GPS is nice. You can just buy a small GPS receiver and stick it on any notebook.
"Screen 30% brighter than "other ruggedized" notebook daylight viewable screens"
This is coming from a company that claim: " It is one of the few ruggedized laptops built with the most powerful processor on the market today?Intel's new 1.86 GHz Pentium processor. It has an optional outdoor viewable display that is 30 percent brighter display than other rugged notebooks with standard outdoor viewable color touch screens."
Note: Intel's new 1.86 ghz, brighter than other STANDARD outdoor viewable. they worded

ok who will use full speed while on battery?

Its gay, and thats the bottom line. Also its slow imo. My comp pwns it even though mine is less durable...

Also, i am not sure i would even get a toughbook if i had the money. If you are into dropping it off 2 story buildings or using a laptop on a mountain, it doesn't make a lot of sense. My system is also faster than a toughbook and as long as i take care of it, it will last just as long. Even if mine breaks, i have 3 years complete care so mine is just as durable as a toughbook. i9300 all the way!

I disagree. DO NOT PURCHASE a Hummer, Lambourghini, Ferrari, or Panansonic Toughbook. They are not worth it at all. You have been warned.

what a weird website. "Steve is upper-middle class..." Is it an advertisement or a freakin' sociology project?

Eh. If I were to spend four grand on a laptop, I'd buy a Sager barebones and chuck the parts in a custom-milled aluminum frame. (Think PowerBook, just much thicker, and with fancy rubber anti-vibration fittings.) It would still cost less.

GM REALLY needs more income, don't they...

They're milking this one for all it's worth.

LOL. I guess the "employee discount for everyone" event didn't get them out of their trillion dollars of debt. It increased sales, but decreased profit significantly (which is what they need right now). They were already making like 1,500 to 2,000 each car, the lowest of any company, so the discount increased sales numbers, but put them into more debt. They are retarded.
