What do you think about MSIs and Palit's different cooling options?

What would you do if you think maybe paying for the reference cooler of the 8800gt to afterwards removing it to install some VF1000 or TR v2 to get a nice oc...

Is the Palit own designed cooling solution (and the 3 phase power thingy...) a good card?
will i be able to get a nice oc? i mean... maybe 700+ core, 1900 shader and 2000 mem?

or maybe the MSI's zalman cooler that resembles the very own vf1000, i liked the idea but then i saw that in states only 10c cooler than the reference cooler... i read from your posts that you're getting like 40c less when you install your coolers...

Or maybe there are no practical solution and i HAVE to buy a stock gt and then get an afertmarket cooler for optimal results...

Thanks 4 your replies

PS: i dont mind about the step up option because i live in uruguay =) do you know where that is? jeje

30 reads and no one could post anything to help? Someone asks if a bfg or an xfx and everyone posts to help...

A 40C difference? I haven't seen that anywhere.

take a look at Shaq's signature:

GA-P35-DS3R
Q6600 G0 @3.4 1.5v max, 3.2 (400x8)@1.41v currently
TR Ultima 90 w/92mm Panaflo high38C idle,70C@100%
4GB Crucial Ballistix @800 4-4-4-12 2.0v
XFX 8800GT 512 @810/1950/2000 with TR V2 1.28v 63C
BenQ MP610 Projector 67", 26" LCD HDTV daily use
WD Raptor 74GB and 150GB
X-Fi XtremeMusic
Logitech Z-5300e 5.1
Antec Neopower 480W
Logitech G15 and MX Revolution
Windows XP

The majority of users are getting like 100+ c with their stock coolers, so there you see a 40c decrease in full load temps and huge oc.

If people buy them maybe they will share their opinions?

Actually the Palit card I'd probably get myself.

i know, im still trying to get more info about them, i gathered so far that the cooler in the MSI card is the vf1000 but it's made of aluminum instead of pure copper... someone said that the accelero is also made from aluminum and is great so... we'll have to wait and see.

The MSI will be out in january, i'm looking forward for your review on the Palit then, thanks for the reply.

Edit: i also noted that the 9c less that MSI shows on their page is in 45c ambient temp... Thats a very hot ambient temp, right? maybe with 25-20c ambient temp you get much more advantage on the temps... dunno

You do realise that MSI states 10C drop with an ambient temperature of 45C! i.e resembling the worst case scenario of a case.

Palit uses a modified 3 phase power PCB against 2 of the reference boards that MSI and other retailers are using.

Lol no way, I meant IF I were to get one I'd get the Palit 1GB card. I JUST got a Radeon 3870 so no upgrading on current tech for a while. If the GF9 is a lot faster I might just pick up one of those.

Yeah, thats what i edited, stilli dont get why they're saying that, if i were MSI i would post temps dropping from an 25c ambient temp, it would more real and better 4 biznez =)

That 3 phase power pcb could be an important feature to take in account? i want to see some review of that card...
