It's one of three I use. TheZone's Messenger, ICQ, and AIM. I used to use Yahoo's Messenger, but alas, Yahoo sucks ass.

ICQ is great. I have alot of friends on it. But I'd rather use AIM.

Been using it since the really early days, buggy at times but a great tool nevertheless.

Anyone see the article in the Wall Street Journal today about how AIM users can now log onto ICQ? They're hinting at a soon to be combination of the two serivces....maybe...possibly hehe

I hate ICQ, I find it to be too bloated. But then again, my computer sucks. I just AIM, most of the people I want to talk to are on there anyway.

I *love* it. All my friends world wide on one little window. :) Great just for finding out stuff instantly while at the pc.

Example:
"Uhh... how's the weather down there in Peru?"
"Que?"

See? Great stuff. :)

I use MSN Messenger (god is on a coffee break...) Don't got any contacts, tho'...I just use it for free long distance PC-to-phone calls. Works dandy over AT&T cable...like, I wanna give those guys more money and use the phone as well...

Note that AIM can contact ICQ, but ICQ can't contact AIM. AOL probably just wants all you ICQ users to give up and use AIM.

ICQ is cool, but it has gotten worse with each successive version. So many useless features now.

I checked out ICQ when it first started and "basically" liked what I saw. When they started putting everything but the kitchen sink into it I lost some interest. I almost kept it installed when they came out with a much more customizable interface where you could rid yourself of much of the clutter. If anything, I've been using MSN messenger since then.

AIM was just too close to AOL for me. Sure, many of my friends would be on it but that wasn't enough. I still just cringe when I think AOL and hate to accept that it will keep getting bigger; a microcosm of much of our society and the widening gap between the upper and lower classes.

I'll continue to steer just about anyone I can away from AOL.

Yea, too many features now. I'm sticking with whatever version I have now (2000a build 3142 er somethin). I looked at the new version and decided it was worthless and won't upgrade.

I have a number in the 5xxx,xxx range, but forgot the password after a format a few years ago and had to get another.

I've been using ICQ for 4 or 5 years and I love it.
Old friends from 10 years ago contact me occasionally, and its really great to talk to them again.

I wonder who has the lowest UIN here :)

I have ICQ but to be honest, I hardly ever use it really, and don't have many people on my contacts list. I sort of go throught 'stages' with these things.

I'm with GirlFriday, it's way to cluttered, and flat out a pain in the a$$. If it were closer to AIM(cleaner, more organized, ect), I'd be glad to use it, but I'm sticking with AIM for now.

I hate AIM, it's the ugliest piece of annoying software I've ever used. It's inconvenient for a message to just pop up on the screen when you receive it, and equally annoying for it to flicker in the task bar when you receive another message from the same person.

I still use it though, but that's just because it's the only way that I can contact GirlFriday outside these forums (as well as vi_edit). If it weren't for them, I would not use it at all, this software is straight from hell.

ICQ on the other hand is of much higher quality, although it does have alot of nice features which some people seem to despise. I've been using ICQ for about 4 or 5 years, and I've never been 'switched', because no other software is as satisfying. I've tried MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, and they all pale in comparison to ICQ.
