Not much, gonna guess it is going to be faster but higher latency and like all other new ram it will be more expensive at first and have similar performance to ddr4.
However I agree it feels about time for new ram standard.

Sort of assuming you are talking about ddr5

All you Star Trek crew members are all alike. Everything has to be warp speed -- whose computer gets closest to the speed of light.

Sure -- faster memory is a good thing. I think it would be especially good the more of it you can configure to a particular system. Or it otherwise depends on your usage.

I could say so much about RAM. I had many RAM sticks growing up. The last good amount of time I had to build a computer was RAM 512MB each. Before 1 GB.

FOOLS!

Ram bus is the future!

More seriously recently I read about a potential new memory that was like ssd flash memory kind of thing. Super fast, low power but bad endurance atm. Some school or dude made a proof of concept thing recently. Sort of forgot most of what I read.

Well actually I am building a machine I can afford that will cost about 400-500. If you are looking for something like Intel i3 or i9 or if there is something after the i9 the processors new cost 150-200 or more I have seen. And Intel Xeon, AMD ryzen. I can check more on that and get back to you. I was asking about if anyone had any insight on DDR.

Make a new post/thread a few forums down in computer building.
Give a budget and what you want to do with the new machine game, work, internet.
Be helpful if you can identify where you live and what we store you have available.
You will get tons of questions, tons of suggestions and likely will learn a lot.
