What do you shave with? What do you use for razor bumps?

So what do you guys normally shave with? And when you get the occasional razor bump what do you use to get rid of it?

mac 3
good shaving gel
and an aftershave (hugo boss)
if you do it properly with warm water does leave any bumps (for me at least)

Trying the quattro 4 right now. I have to say, the Mach 3 is a better shaver. The Quattro 4 is much harsher on my skin.

mach 3 turbo, followed by nivea for men after shave balm & afta clear for my head(water based; won't clog my pores).

Been using hair clippers for a while now.... even though I havn't clipped in a few weeks... I look like a bear...

I'm gonna look for that afta clear, do they sell it everywhere or is it one of those products that are kind of hard to track down

Having a full beard, I use a Norelco on my neck and a Wahl trimmer on the face hair.

When I use to wet shave I did it in the shower. I have a foot square mirror glued
to the shower wall, eye level. I used a twin trac razor and Kiss My Face olive oil soap.
The soap can be had at Trader Joe's, there is one in Chicago. Worked so good for me.
Never had a razor bump.

If you are a Blk man, as your avatar would suggest. Don't you have special shaving
requirements, because of the tight curly hair that can become ingrown?

Shave in the shower! I used to get bumps all the time, then I started shaving in the shower and it no longer hurts or creates bumps and the shave is a LOT smoother. I dont even go against the grain, because it is so close and smooth.

I switched back to blades a few months ago after using an electric for years. Gilette got me with the Mach3 Turbo in the mail. I tossed my Shick Quattro this weekend. The Mach3 is much better. The only time I get bumps is if I have ingrown hairs.

I have thick hairs I guess, so I tend to do a quick once-over with the electric... then a normal shave with Mach 3 Turbo. I tend to get razor bumps on my neck, but they aren't that bad.

I also shave in the shower as I have a really tough facial hair, so I use a fogless mirror from the sharper image (really just a Zadro Zfogless mirror), some pre shave shaving oil and then a shaving brush to apply some nice high quality shaving cream that is hypo allergenic and I shave once down and then once up....takes a while but don't get cut and never any bumps...

Sensor Excel in Pink and Blue. I have 2! (one for the shower stall and 1 for the bathtub)

I normally use normal hair conditioner to shave with.. makes for a nice smooth shave 🙂

Do you shave against the grain? You should always shave the direction your hair grows. Down on your face and up on the lower part of your neck.

I shave with the grain and then against the grain.

Same here. Shaving with the grain always leaves too much.

Agreed with above, shaving just with the grain doesn't do enough, always looks messy, even QESG suggest that at least on your neck you shave up...generally they say go with and then against but only lightly against.

I used to use shaving powder for a few years, then I finally got tired of using that. It takes around 10-15 minutes to put that smelly stuff on, take off and then clean up all the mess. I switched over to electric razors for about a year but I never could really get a good close shave so now I'm using a razor which is much faster and a better shave. My only problem is that I tend to get a few bumps along my neck. Its not too bad if I make sure to shave every other day, but I still have like one or 2 persistent shaving bumps that never entirely go away. But the olive oil soap sounds like a good idea to try.

I use the Mach 3 turbo.

I recommend Nutrogena Clear-Skin After shave. It burns like nothing else, but it really eliminates razor burn and bumps.
