County fairs sound like fun. I've never been to one. I don't think they've got those in NYC.

The fairs are somewhat segregated though. Most of the white trash hang around the rides. Rednecks near the animals. Average people spend a little time all over the place.

I disagree with you on almost everything, but here's finally something I completely agree with. ;)

My family has been active with farm animals (namely steers) for many years, so I've spent tremendous amounts of time at the fair. I've done record-keeping for livestock auctions at county fairs. Some of the people that go to fairs are "average"... but the vast majority aren't. IMO my siblings and a few of our friends are, and the rest of the people in the animal barns aren't. ;) We all (usually) avoid the rides, not because of the rides or the operators, but the freaks that can't get enough of them.

But yeah... the traditional "fair food" that'll kill you inside of a minute... best stuff ever.

The only reasons those songs were any good back then was because everyone was either stoned or on LSD or Mushrooms.

Actually, a few are still really good, in all fairness. I just saw Night Ranger 2 weeks ago and they still bring it. Jack Blades has plenty of energy.

The last few headliners in this area were STXY and REO Speedwagon . Though I have seen the occasional good show from Waylon Jennings and Charlie Daniels in years past.

You need to go to one. Where else can you get fresh sweet corn soaked in butter or see the creme de le creme of livestock????
