What Do you Prefer for Gaming?

This topic is pretty self explanatory. I am getting a new monitor and I am not sure which I want to get for my games. I plan on playing some Fear and WoW.

I prefer widescreen but if the game doesn't support it kinda sucks and there is plenty of games that don't support widescreen plus some don't support true widescreen also instead they zoom the picture in

Widescreen is the way to go. Unless the game is older it will be supported. A nice 24 inch will get you some nice res. Dell and Samsung offer great widescreen LCD's.

Mostly anything within the last year or so will support WS right? I am not too intrested in playing older games?

Voted widescreen, but currently gaming full (1600X1200). Waiting for better 1900X1200 monitors to come out. Can't stand the vertical loss on current 1680X1050 panels.

This is one question I should've asked before, but..... How does a widescreen monitor affect everday usage (aka web browsing, Word)?

BTW This is way more one sided than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for everyone who voted. You defintily helped me make up my mind.

This topic has been pretty much beaten to death... repeatedly.

For everyday use, I prefer FS, for gaming WS.

if you want to play Battlefield 2, it doesn't properly support widescreen. Plus, it doesn't look like EA gives a crap about it either.

For everything else, its awesome.

Of course, I will never ever ever give up my 21" Sony G500 Trinitron CRT. Makes those silly LCD panels look like toys. But, I'm a videophile... most people prefer LCDs.

Awesome for non gaming uses, lots of real estate for multiple windows etc. I could never go back from my 2405 fpw.

As for the above post re: BF2s lack of support for widescreen, do not confuse this for not being able to run the game. I play BF2 on my WS every day and have forced a higher res for the game with a modified EXE. You really can not tell the diff unless you compare screens side by side. Take the plunge, you will not regret it.

A lot of my games support widescreen but my video card isn't good enough to support it. However, I do enjoy playing EVE in widescreen just because it gives me so much space. It's nice.
