What do you post on your web site?

I'm just curious what people put on their sites. Seems every friend of mine runs one and they typically put up programs (majority of my friends are programmers), links to friends, pictures, a LITTLE bit of opinion (most aren't blog type people), writing they've done (articles, HOWTOs etc) along with project links to whatever they are working on at that point in time.

I can't think of any useful reason to start a site (other than for a central repository for my projects). Are there any other reasons to have a web site anymore?

• 1) It's super cheap under $20/yr (NameCheap.com + HostPC.com)
• 2) To make money, like my GottaDeal.com
• 3) A hobby site.

I am a freelance website designer. I use mine to cater to clients, so they can login and view the progress on their sites. I also have a portfoilio on there, but my site is under reconstruction, so you can't view it now... only a splash page.

my roommate and I were throwing around ideas yesterday, and the suggestion was raised about making a fictitious website in which we'd pretend to be a crazy cat lady who build a website devoted entirely to her 83 cats.

but crazycatlady.com could only go so far

yea that isnt cool, doesnt happen in opera, but happens in IE, glad i never use IE
