What do you need to install a CPU besides the actual chip?

I mean, on newegg, it says it comes with the actual processor only, no manual or box or anything, so my question is, what else would I need? IS there drivers or something that I would have to download?

And also, what does this mean?

512KB L2 Cache

heatsink/fan/thermal compound

L2 cache is like 'memory' on the chip itself used to pipe data in and out. 512kb is a typical amount. the other commmon amount is 1mb, which is just a little better. that's the best I can do, you might google it if someone with more knowledge doesn't pipe in.

And no box means it is OEM with the warranty period offered by the seller... A Retail processor will have a 3 year warranty from the manufacturer and all documentation that accompanies it.

So, lets say I get some Artic Silver 5, then do I need a heatsink/fan? And if newegg.com is only selling OEM processors, is there somewere else to get them?

Yes, you need a heatsink/fan if it is not included. Some OEM will include that.. you just have to read the ad. Check New Egg again, they usually have the retail processors too.
