I tried many of the popular distros until finally deciding on PCLinuxOS. It's a hybrid distro that has features of Mandrake but also includes apt-get.

Since I'm a n00b when it comes to Linux, I liked it because it included many apps and I didn't have to spend a bunch of time installing the ones I wanted.

I look for good support of Free software, easy managability, stability, and for a healthy respect of security issues.

I use Debian for my personal stuff. Apt-get makes it easy to manage and has 98% of the software I use aviable by the excelent package developers from Debian. Very high quality.

They have a security teams and respect security concernes.

It supports free software very well, plus is also able to work equaly well on my PowerPC laptop as my x86 desktop.

So on and so forth.

I also like Slackware and Fedora Core a lot. Also Suse is decent.. The work Novell does is very interesting.
