So I was just thinking. What type of place do you live in? House, apartment...shoe box? This would be interesting.

I live in a house.

Are you wondering about rent versus own in combination? Some people just assume house means owning. I hated owning so I sold it and now I rent a house. I can't live in anything with shared walls for work reasons.

We live in a house as well. There are many like it but this one is ours.
Well it's not really ours it's technically Heartland Bank and Trusts. We own a 1/3 of it though but not really.

I live in a two story detached house built in the early 1980s. Think it's somewhere around 2400sq ft. I don't own it.

I may be moving soon though depending on how a potential job prospect in another city pans out.

I don't know. The glow of my own ego blinds me to the nature of my surroundings. I'm sure where ever I live is awesome though.

how are Apartment and Condo different?
One is a self contained house in a building with other houses, the other is a self contained house in a building with other houses.

A condo development can consist of detached homes with common maintenance of the grounds and amenities.

The way I look at it, and I'm probably wrong, is that an apartment building is where the whole structure is owned by one entity and each unit is rented out. A condo is where each unit is owned by seperate entities. Condos typically offer extra amenities as well.

I live in many different buildings on my property. The main house is 14*20, the kitchen and bath is an old milk house at 12*12, and I just built a 2story garage which is 24*28. The garage second floor room is 14*24.

So house?

An 3 bedroom apartment (with two roommates), where it is really the first floor of a two-family home, and the street is filled with these semi-row houses (only two houses are connected between driveways to backyard parking areas). At least it's cheap, clean, and located close enough to the subway - a very surprising find so close to Manhattan.

Current: House (small ranch built in 1980, with partly finished basement)
Previous: Townhouse (1100 sq foot or so 2 bedroom)
Prior: Trailer (1800 sq foot or so 3 bedroom when I lived back at my moms place)
