I know that it is much less than 50%. The Taliban is more or less a dictatorship. The vast majority of Afghani's despise the Taliban. There is an anti-Taliban army with 15,000 troops. They are situated in the south I believe, the last remaining anti-Taliban area.
Correction, the anti-Taliban movement is located in the Panjshi Valley in the North of Afghanistan. This is about 5% of Afghanistan, birthplace of the late General Masood, the anti-Taliban leader, assasinated last week. He will be sorely missed. He would also have been a key asset for the US in the fight against the Taliban.
