I'd like to find out whether people know this country and if yes, what interesting facts do you know? Thanks to all who answers to the point.

You seem to have an unlimited number of gorgeous women willing to do pr0n. ;)

Just kidding.

I know that Czechoslovakia came into being with the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the Sudentenland portion was the excuse for Hitler to eventually invade, you had the balls to stand up to the Soviets in 1968 and again in 1989 and that you mutually decided to split into 2 countries peacefully in 1992.

I know that area of the world has some of the hottest women on the planet. I was there briefly on business, and my polished, American business guy who doesn't have a booze problem was a big hit.

Here's one of my favorite Czech girls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwmUgVrUJ4I&feature=channel

Otherwise, it's a nice looking country. Interesting architecture in Prague, and the countryside is laden with rolling hills. I had a pork and sauerkraut dish that was really good. The place is sorta part german, part Russian, and even a bit of Asia thrown in there.

I know it isn't in the USA.

That's all I got. Formerly part of Russia? I don't even know that for a fact.

I'll also add, my wife wants to go there (Prague) soon. It seems to be a big tourist attraction, though I'm not entirely sure why outside of the architecture.

Good thing because it is not a fact. Closest it ever came to being part of Russia was being an Eastern European satellite of the Soviet Union.

Well, it's similar to other European countries in many ways but has it's own unique points. People there just like to shoot the shit at the bar and discuss politics or football (soccer). The cuisine is generally German/Polish, pork, sausauge, chicken - just a lot of meat. In terms of stuff to do, it's just like any other major city - restaurants or museums if you're low key, night clubs if you're into that sort of thing, tourist tours, etc.

You're gonna need to keep your blinders on though, because the women there absolutely blow away spoiled, chubby american girls. Most of the young girls have that clubber vibe; they look great but they're a touch too into themselves. And the smoking is non-stop...I think they give out packs of cigarettes in elementary school.

My dad lives in Opava and I have been there six times in the last twelve years. What do you want to know?

One thing that all tourists should know is that Czech women don't think that "dobre kocicka" is a compliment. For life of me I can't figure out why.

Let me know if and when you decide to go. I have a friend in the travel business over there. I'm sure he could hook you up. And I can provide tons of advice as to where to go, things to see, etc. Prague is nice, but you need to get out of that city if you actually want to experience the Czech republic.

As for tourist attractions, there are over 1300 castles in the country. Which is a lot. Particularly if you consider that the Czech republic is about the size of West Virginia (maybe smaller).

I've never been there, but it looks like a scenic country.

I was in high school with the Soviets rolled into Prague in 68. I remember Lech Walesa and the struggles of the Solidarity Movement as they tried to regain power from the Soviet regime...and I remember when the Soviets were ousted...and the Czech people were free once again.

Now, having never been there, I don't REALLY know how free the Czechs are...but it's gotta be better than it was in the dark days following the 68 take-over.
