What do you guys use to clean your car?

I usually go to one of those do it your self carwashes simply because the $15 do a crappy job. Besides the chemicals the carwash offers the only thing I use is some Armorall on the wheels. 2 days later though, it needs to be cleaned again...

I like Meguiar's stuff. It's not as good as Zaino, but I find the price-to-quality to be much more palatable than Zaino, too.

I use turtle wax zipwax to wash, and a chammy job every time, i do this very often so doing other stuff is not really needed as the car is clean most of the time.

I use meguiar's tire shine, and a soapy sponge for my rims. done!

I use a car washing fluid and water to wash the car, wheel cleaner for the rims, foaming tire cleaner for the tires, and bug and tar remover for, well, bugs and tar 😛. Then I'll use glass cleaner for the windows and armor-all wipes for the interior. If I'm feeling ambitious (or if I haven't done it in a while), I'll wax as well.

Lamb's blood. To appease the sun and sky gods. And I clean the wheels with the blood of albino tiger cubs. Hard to find, and even harder to get. But it appeases the god of the earth.
I know what you're thinking. Sorry ladies, I'm taken.

Mr. Clean AutoDry wash system. I have two black vehicles and I was amazed how this thing works. You don't have to use a shammy and you have absolutely no water spots. I have very hard water and the softener salt leaves bad water spots. This thing really works.

edit: Here's a link.
You can get them anywhere.

I own a black car as well, and I feel that if it doesn't rain, the car stays pretty clean. However, even if you never drive it, and it just sits there, it WILL still get dusty. I suggest you pick up a car duster, and it'll help a ton. I've gone for about a month (no rain), and the car was still looking pretty good with regular dusting and rim cleaning (brake dust). You just have to dust it once every couple of days. Dusting only take a couple of minutes, and helps remove alot of that crap. The car will soon look almost as good as when you had washed it.

If it ever rains, the car needs a wash anyway.

This is assuming you have a garage to store your car overnight. If you don't have a garage, then forget it 😉.

Seriously though, this will probally be the best advice you will get throughout the thread. Anyone else who has used one should also vouch fo rit.

Thanks, I unfortunately have to leave mine outside, sucks.

I have a black vehicle as well...and it is a pain to keep clean...but it is a truck, so I really don't care if it is all that clean most of the time. When I do want to clean it up...then I will usually use some McGuires stuff...or if I'm in a rush, run by the local "do-it-yourself" jobbie. I love how good a black vehicle looks when washed...so awesome.

i also live on a gravel/dirt road

the cars are always dirty, that is just how it is

in the summer we wash them off sometimes. in the winter we sometimes go through a car wash, but it is futile

Meguiars is also much easier and faster to apply than Zainos, and the quality is so close to Zainos that the extra cost just can't be justified (unless you have a show car).

I wash my car with Meguiars soft gel car wash with a sponge (never use a mitt, as mitts trap dirt particles which cause swirls), dry and detail with microfiber towels and ammonia-free window cleaner, and then wax with Meguiars Gold Class, an orbital, and terry cloth towels.

Agreed. Thats what I have to use all the time now. Otherwise the spots that show up on my black car drive me crazy! 🙂

I bother to get it washed maybe 3 times a year. It's not worth the hassle. I'll clean it and 2 hours later it'll be dirty again anyhow.

I know the feeling.

One day my boss actually came into my office and told me that I need to wash my truck (at the time I had an Explorer). I asked him if he wanted to pay for it every other day, since I drive on a lot of dirt/gravel roads, and that there was no way that I could prevent it from getting just as dirty the very next day... he dropped the issue. I'll admit that I thought it was embarassing to have the only dirty vehicle in the parking lot of an office complex, though. 🙁

I concur  I use it to keep my pony looking showroom new - It has never spotted yet while drying.
