what do you guys use to clean carpet stairs

i have a dyson dc15 and roomba discovery. they do an excellent job but is worthless on the stairs. i used the brush attachment on the dyson to clean the stairs a few time but its slow and annoying because i have to bend over so much. is there a better solution for the stairs? i know dyson makes an attachment but i read on amazon its no good.

Works like a charm!

But really, theres this 409 carpet cleaner I got from the store that works really well, just spray it on the spot, let it sit for like 5 mins then scrub with a rag.

i meant to pick up surface dirt and lint and such. we don't have any grime or spots in the stairs but i'll keep the carpet cleaner in mind. i'm more looking for a vacuum to clean the stairs with because the two i have don't work well on stairs.

Edit: You might search to find one that fits your stair dimensions if you think it might work.

stairs are a pain in the butt, no matter how you slice it. Just gotta grin and bear it.

Our Kenmore has a handheld powered attachment with a beater bar, that works really well.

Edit: It's a cannister, not an upright.

we didn't want to buy a cannister because we'd have to carry it up and down the stairs too often. it's probably more convinent for the stairs with a cannister. i wish the dyson has a decent attachment for stairs.

I think the main difference is that the dirt in the Swiffer Swivel Sweeper (I believe that's the one advertising on TV at the moment) is collected onto a sticky disposable strip. The one I linked above probably just has a compartment you empty on occassion.
