These are the specs that I helped my friend pick out for his first build. I never worked with ATI cards and was wondering what you guys think about this build, and if that gpu will work with the mobo. My friend is on a 700$ budget, and the total cost of this is $670.00 + about $30.00 shipping.

You're building your friend a system on a dead platform, you could do better for a budget of $700. If you really want AMD, look at socket AM2.

This would be better though...based on C2D
-Keep case and drives that you prefer (50+32+45 = ~$130)
Biostar P965 $105
e6300 $190 (shop around and also look at the cheaper e4300 which runs on an 800mhz FSB instead of the 1066FSB of the e6300)
X1950Pro 256MB $170 after rebate
XClio 500W $52
Corsair ValuSelect 2x512MB $75 (or go with 1 512 stick for the possible future upgrade to 2GB w/ dual channel)

TOTAL = ~$725
I know its a bit over budget, however, this is a much more modern system that will last longer. If this is too much, see what you can get w/ AM2, I'd go that route over s939.

best for the budget. if $700 can be sueezed in, modified version of this and the core2duo rig posted above. i would change the psu though. get the fortron 450w ($54), fortron 500w ($75AR), enhance 5150 500w ($64), or enhance 5246 460w ($54). the fortron ones are off newegg, enhance off ewiz.com

The Enhance 500W unit for $62 would be my pick from your suggestions.

But the XClio StablePower series is based off Enhance PSUs.

If you go AM2, you may be able to swing 2GB RAM, which could be good if you're using Vista or gaming.
