What do you guys think the problem is?

I have Road Runner. For several weeks, my internet kept dropping. You guys on here and RR said that it was because there were too many splitters. So they came, rewired the apartment, so now there is a direct line from the main cable box to my cable modem. Not one splitter. Cable is working awesome for about 2 weeks or so. Now, back to the same problem. What could this be? Thanks

are you using a router or just one pc connected to the modem?

router. but ive tested it w. out the router and same problem.

How often is it dropping? Does it come right back or does it stay down a while?

You might find many in your area experiencing problems. But in any event the savy users there can generally narrow it down to your hardware, line, node etc by having you run various tests.

What router in particular? If it's a Linksys, you may have a model that's affected by this vulnerability. There are updates for a whole raft of Linksys models, check here for yours.
