<SPAN class=gs_normal>Hello,

I've recently sold my PS2 and Xbox, which were my main DVD players on my home theater setup. I have a 36" Sony WEGA TV (not progressive scan) and a nice 5 speaker surround setup. So as a replacement, I'm thinking about getting this:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005T3HJ/ref=br_fq_etk_ce_av__glbl_1//102-7975644-8548152?v=glance&s=electronics&n=172514" target=_blank>Apex AD-800 Progressive Scan DVD Player</A>

I'm obviously going the cheaper route, but it does have a digital optical out and a component connection, which is what I want. Is there a better solution out there for me? Thanks!</SPAN>

I have no problems with Apex's at all... i have the AD-1500 that i got for 50 bucks.... it works just as well as my $500 Pioneer that i got way back when. For 60 bucks thats not a bad deal at all.

Some of these cheap makes are just as sweet as more expensive ones...others are piles of rubbish, it's difficult to tell.

Mine was the latter...which puts you off getting another less known brand again....

Check dvdhelp.com. They have a page to compare different DVD players. In my case, I was looking for one that will play DVD, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, SVCD, photo discs, etc.
