What do you guys think of The Sims?

I'm not talking about Sim City, Sim Train or anything like that. I'm talking about The Sims! Do you guys find it boring? Fun? A waste of time? Girly? Childish?

I've been playing Sims Free Play the last few days and I find it amusing. House building is fun, and I like decorating the vacant homes. I like completing the quest, and I like watching my Sims grow. When you play Free Play you can send you Sim to work, plant crops, sew, interact with other Sims, watch a movie, fall in love, play with pets, etc...

When playing Sims Free Play their actions happen in real time. So if you want your Sim to watch a 2 hour, it's going to take 2 real hours!

Sims 4 will be out this Fall. :awe:

The Sims, much like Minecraft, is quite literally what you make it. I get a big kick out of creating mutants and watching them tear themselves to pieces.

Sim 1, had a blast. I remember reading about it in PCGamer magazine when I was a kid sounded so much fun I ended up getting it and playing it for months non stop. Sims 2 came around and my computer couldn't run it, so i put it on hold for a while. When I finally got a computer to run it, I once again had a blast. It was relatively the same to the Sims 1 but still great.

The Sims 3 I didn't end up playing for months. I ended up playing for 1 whole day though. Made my guy have a computer store and sold hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of computers, then upgraded my house until I could afford the mansion and put everything in it. Once I built the ultimate crib I threw a few parties in it, had sex with multiple different women while the other ones watched, and then lit the house on fire and went to bed. That was great.

Sims 2 was fun, the expansions (the real ones: seasons, pets, nightlife...etc, not the stuffit packs like H&M, Glamour) were good, they brought new things (including new bugs) into the game to keep it going. The stuffit packs were definitely DLC and not worth it. Although I think the christmas one was like $2 so no biggie LOL.

Plus there was a ton of mods for it, including making them less stupid.

I got sims 3 on black friday a couple years ago and never actually got around to install it, don't want origin on my computer. Plus the fact the sims look fugly now.

I have played them all, but I don't buy the expansions or anything like that. In the end you burn through them pretty quickly with a couple of different lifestyles and families and then its mechanics are understood and mastered and I am done. If the Sims 4 adds something compelling I'll consider buying it based on my usual check of online DRM and bugs (it is EA after all, they really don't want my money) and other obvious problems. Certainly not something I would preorder despite EAs massive push on Origin.

I played all the original games for awhile, they're pretty fun.

EA began milking the fuck out of it with the expansions starting with Sims 2. I've pretty much just ignored those.

The Sims Free Play is F2P bullshit though, obviously.

I'll probably get Sims 4 at some point.

It's addictive at first but gets boring fast. IMO, there's not a lot to do in the vanilla game. The fun is building your home. Though it takes a long time to earn enough money to do it through regular gameplay, so I just cheat and play architect.

I got bored with it after going full on Mexican soap opera with my Sims.
Then I threw everyone in the pool and removed the ladder.
