I am obsessed with this car for some reason. I never really though I'd want a 2 door sports car but I find myself checking local places out to see if they have any used ones for sale(not looking to buy new).

anyone drive one of these? Like it? dislike it?

Would you rate this car as low, average, high in terms of insurance? How is Hyundai in general in terms of reliability, quality?

TIA.

I'd only consider the V6 version. Any others no. Hyundai's quality has gotten a lot better...but unfortunately you still have to admit to people that you just bought a hyundai.

Great car, as long as you're talking about the brand new one. I too found myself falling in love with a black V6 5-speed at the Dallas Auto Show earlier this year. You can't beat the price and warranty, and it's a great economical sports car- at worst. Lots of potential, good looks, supposed solid reliability, and powerful engine in a lightweight shell. Comfortable, high grade quality interior and great ergonomics. It's a winner in my book, and is the best bang for the buck anywhere that I can think of!

Well it MSRPs at $18k which is a bit higher than the nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. It's got 6 more HP (not significant). It is a hyundai unfortunately but on the other hand seems to come with full leather seating which isn't too bad and the car is not that ugly.

Once again I am forced to only really complain about the fact it's a hyundai

this is the exact response I knew I'd get.

You tell ME why I wouldn't want one, ok? Is it just because you dont like Hyundai, or what are some reasons? I don't know anything about Hyundai cars, which is why i asked in the first place.

I saw a brand new Carbon Blue Tiburon at a local dealership for 19k I think. Pretty well equipped..I don't want to pay for/cant afford a 19k car, and I don't really want to buy new at all.

Skoorb, why only the newer ones? Are the 99/00/01 ones pretty bad? If so, why?

Well they're just not the pimper new ones that's why :)

So, in terms of reliability and such, they'd be alright?

I want something nice but I am not in a position to buy a 19k new car. If I could get an older model, that's what I want to do.

Seriously, what is wrong with Hyundai?

You might want to check out a 2000 or 2001 Elentra GT. They are nice cars, with great standard options, a great warranty and they are good cars for the money.

I have a 99 tiburon and its been a rock, its been in the shop once for a seatbelt recall. The reason I got is was the price. Your not gonna beat 13k for a brand new car link mine anywhere.

It's a decent looking car but I think it would look alot better with a larger wheels.

Some 50 year old woman in my neighborhood has a white '03 Tibby GT. She traded a yellow tibby of the old body style for it. Funny seeing a 50 year old woman in a car aimed at 20 something males :)

The '03 ones look awesome and have decent specs. I seen a couple previews and it seem to got high marks. I would definitely consider the newer one, but I'm not sure about an older one because they seem to get a lot of crap. But really, a while ago when there was first word of the new Tiburon I thought a lot of ppl were excited but now I see Tiburon threads and they just get trashed on! Unless they are talking about older ones?

Please don't buy that car. A true sports car has more power than a V6 mustang like notfred said. Whoa that rhymed.
